Let’s talk teething puppies

disclaimer: All information in this blog post is strictly my own personal experience and I am not a vet or professional.

A teething puppy can be quite frustrating especially when your dealing with all of their other puppy crazyness. When I first got Sammie girl I didn't know a lot about what to do and I learned everything through first hand experience. Believe me it was one of the hardest experiences learning as I went and I had days where I felt like a complete dog mom failure. Now that we have another puppy we have become much more experienced with it all.

Teething is quite possibly the most difficult part about having a puppy. They chew everything insight especially the expensive stuff and those tiny piranha like teeth hurt.

Luckily with Sammie she never chewed up a single thing (except us) but I promise you, most puppies will wreak havoc on your items.

The best thing we can do is help make teething as comfortable as possible for our little ones.

Always make sure you have special teething bones both edible and rubber as well as frozen toys to soothe their painful gums. Think of it like having an infant who's teething, it's miserable and it's never fun to see them in pain.

My go to product is the one pictured above. They are rawhide free and when the puppy chews them it gets ice and soft and is easily digestible. They come in several flavors and also sizes. We use the sticks for daily teething and then we get the larger ones for the puppies as a special treat to keep occupied and tire them out. An edible nylabone is also great but for our puppies they were to hard and he got he got frustrated.

The next thing we do is frozen soothing items. Taking long carrots and soaking in a dog formulated broth and freezing, frozen blueberries, blending non fat yogurt and blueberries and put in ice cube trays to freeze. There is endless options k the market but if your in a budget, I promise you can stay in budget all while helping your puppy.

The free choice is take a washcloth and twist a knob at the end and tie it off and soak in water and freeze. Once frozen they can gnaw in it to soothe on.

Do not let the teething get you down, it gets better and if you keep them comfortable you will also feel at ease.
